The world-famous Carrera sunglasses

The founder of Carerra Wilhelm Anger as a sports eyewear maker. He was inspired by the Pan-American auto race. After twenty years they changed the name and began to say Optyl International and began to make motorcycle goggles and ski masks. In 1964, Wilhelm Anger painted the Optyl material, which was heat hardened weighing 20% less than acetate resulting in a reduction of allergic reactions and provided permanent elasticity and dimensional stability.

In 1974, the company was renamed CARRERA International and established a headquarters in Traun, Austria, and went to partner with automobile designer Ferdinand Alexander to increase the sunglass collection CARRERA Porsche Design. In the 1980s, CARRERA published sporting events such as America’s Cup, the 1988 Winter Olympics, and Formula 1 racing. In 1996, Safilo Group S.p.A. purchased CARRERA and now has headquarters in Padua, Italy.

The very well-known Carrera sunglasses models Carrera Champion and Carrera Safari were created in 2008 and are the best sellers since, Lady Gaga wears them in her “Bad Romance” video from her album The Fame Monster. In 1996 the company established its assembly industry in the province of Zhengzhou in China.
